Understanding an infrastructure opportunity

Use this guide when there is a specific proposal to discuss. Work through the land use, the terms and the information you still need.

Understand the proposal

Ask the project team to explain what is proposed, where it would be located and what land or access it would need. Discuss both construction and ongoing operation in relation to how you use the property today.

  • What would be built, and where?
  • What would happen during construction and ongoing operation?

Understand the terms

Request an explanation of duration, payment timing and responsibilities, including maintenance and any restoration. Ask which details are proposed and which remain to be determined. Write down anything you want clarified.

  • What rights, access and responsibilities would the agreement include?
  • What payments or benefits are proposed, and on what terms?

Choose your next step

Compare the explanation with the proposed agreement. Bring unanswered questions to our team and any advisers you choose, then decide what information you need before taking another step.

  • What remains unclear?
  • What information do you need before making a decision?
